The IRCM and Its Foundation Salutes the Legacy of Mr. Brian Mulroney, Philanthropist And Friend of the Institute

The Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) community mourns the loss of the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney with great sadness and extends heartfelt condolences to his family.

A dedicated philanthropist and a fervent supporter of science and health, Mr. Mulroney generously supported the Institute's endeavors over the years. Together with his wife, he recently made a personal donation of $1.5 million to the foundations of the IRCM, the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal, and the Montreal Heart Institute.

"On behalf of the IRCM community, I would like to convey our profound sadness at the passing of a man with exceptional human qualities," stated Dr. Jean-François Côté, President and Scientific Director of the IRCM.

"We will always remember him as someone who deeply cared about the well-being of our community, and who never hesitated to get personally involved in many of the Foundation's activities over the years. He was one of our loyal supporters," added André Couillard, President of the IRCM Foundation.

"It has been a privilege and a source of inspiration to work with Mr. Mulroney. His involvement in diabetes research to improve care and contribute to the training of future generations is one of his many contributions," said Dr. Rémi Rabasa-Lhoret, Vice-President of the IRCM Clinic.

A law graduate from Université Laval, this prominent politician gave back to society in many ways, including to the IRCM.
