The Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) warmly congratulates Mr. Guy Saint-Jacques, who has been a member of the Board of Directors of the IRCM Foundation since 2018, on being awarded the title of Officer of the Ordre national du Québec.
‘’This high distinction could not be awarded to anyone more deserving than Mr. Saint-Jacques, whose commitment to the public cause and to the advancement of healing science has been a constant thread running through his impressive career," commented Dr. Jean-François Côté, President and Scientific Director of the IRCM.
Throughout his brilliant career in Canadian diplomacy, Guy Saint-Jacques has distinguished himself. He took an early interest in climate issues, becoming a recognized expert on these matters, including at the first major international conference on climate issues in Toronto in 1987. His appointment as Chief Negotiator and Ambassador for Climate Change in 2010 confirmed the excellence of his commitment to these issues and contributed to the positive evolution of negotiations on the subject. Mr. Saint-Jacques has advanced Canada's interests in a number of areas, while contributing to Quebec's influence on the international stage. In addition, he was called upon to serve as deputy head of mission in three of Canada's largest representations: London, Beijing and Washington. His appointment as Canada's ambassador to China in 2012 confirmed his extensive expertise in this country, and enabled him to play a remarkable role in Canada-China relations.
For the past five years, he has put his great expertise and humanism at the service of the IRCM Foundation. Congratulations to him!
